RS-232 Serial Port Bluetooth Adapters
SMART Modular's Serial Port Adapters are high-performance, low-power serial port cable replacement solutions. The Serial Port Adapters are perfect for applications in telematics, telemetry and industrial data acquisition areas. SMART Modular's Serial Port Adapters conforms to the industrial standard EIA-232-E for serial data communications. The adapters are available as DTE (for PC, Notebook, Terminals a.s.o., female adapter) or DCE versions (Peripherals, printer, scanner, sensor, robotics a.s.o., male adapter) and detects power from pin 9 of the RS-232 connector if available or gets power through a wallplug adapter (included) The one time configuration doesn't need any specific software. A standard terminal software is enough to get access to the internal configuration menu, that is stored in the adapters memory.

Bluetooth USB + UART MiniModules BlueTopaz
SMART Modular Technologies’ “BlueTopaz” Bluetooth® Mini-Module is a Class 2 type, compliant with Bluetooth specification 1.1, features 8MB of flash memory for firmware upgradeable via UART, USB or SPI interfaces. “BlueTopaz” is offered with different configurations to meet specific customer applications.
The different product variations are: USB or UART version with software stack up to the HCI levels, UART with SPP profile, and UART with HID profile. The MiniModule with SPP Serial Port Profile) is easy to integrate in all Systems that offers RS232 ports. For fast results we recommend the Evaluation / Developer Kit that contains the BGA mounted Mini Module on board.

Bluetooth Serial / UART / USB Evaluation Kits
SMART offers low cost evaluation kits for a fast integration of Bluetooth technology into systems and devices using the Smart Mini Modules. The small PCB offers all important components such as I/O, power supply, antenna a.s.o. The evaluation kits could be used for fastest results without designing own complex PCBs first. The evaluation kits are available with USB and UART (Serial) interface, with or without SPP (Serial Port Profile) The kits contains the BlueOpal USB Bluetooth adapter as well so that a wireless connection could be established within a few minutes. The developer kits can be used to integrate the class 2 modules with integrated antenna as well (see description below)
HINT: We recommend to use the UART Version with SPP profile for a fast integration of the MiniModules in standard RS232 systems and devices, because there is no need to program the UART I/O using SPP. The wireless connection can be established after a one time setup of the RS-232 parameters and a pairing to the receiver device.

Bluetooth Class 2 UART Modules with Antenna
SMART Modular Technologies offers a new Serial Class 2 Module with an integrated antenna that could be attached to a customers board using an onboard connector or a cable connection (Samtec connectors) This way, the modules are easy to integrate into systems or devices without soldering. The size is 27 x 14 x 4.5 mm only. The modules complies with Bluetooth® Specifikation 1.1 and features 8 MB of flash memory for the firmware that can be upgraded via UART, USB or SPI Interface. The modules will be available with USB-HCI, UART-HCI and UART SPP-HCI profiles as 10pack samples starting July 2004 (PreProduction units) The mass production units will be available around August for a lower price as 10packs or trays with 50 modules. We recommend to use the modules with SPP for easiest integration into RS-232 devices (Read HINT: attached to the above evaluation/developer kits)

Bluetooth UltraSmall Class 2 UART Module
SMART Modular Technologies will offer an ultra-small UART mini module soon, This tiny module has a remarkably small footprint, 12 x 14 x 2.2 mm, is Class 2 compliant Bluetooth® specification 1.1 and features 4 MB of flash memory. With firmware upgradeable via UART or SPI interfaces, the mini module is offered in UART version with software stack up to HCI levels and can support a variety of Bluetooth profiles. The BGA Modul will be available to OEMs in quantities 500 up starting Q2/04.

BlueOpal Bluetooth USB Adaptor
Whether you are at home, in the office or on the road your Bluetooth USB adaptor will make your computing experience more convenient. Bluetooth high range CompactFlash Card
The SMART Modular CompactFlash card is a high range Class 1 Bluetooth adapter that allows a personal computer with a CF slot to communicate with other Bluetooth® devices. The Compact Flash card interfaces to a UART running at 921,600 baud, allowing communications at the full Bluetooth data rates. The antenna for the board is built into the PCB. The card could be used to connect to seven other Bluetooth devices or RS-232 Bluetooth adapters using virtual COM-Ports at the same time.
